Spring clean and de-clutter
Go through your home making sure that everything is clean and tidy and clear out items that you no longer use. It is important to remember that in some cases less is more
De-personalise and Neutralize
Try to take down family portraits, religious trophies, hunting trophies as well as artwork that other people may find quite unusual. If you have bright red walls in a certain room then it is recommended that you paint over them in order to neutralize the property.
Rearrange your furniture in such a way that the room feels more spacious and airier and does not block any flow of movement. Although hard to do, you should start to view this home as no longer yours. If you have too much furniture, then store it somewhere else or sell it. It is always better to have shelves and furniture that are not on the floor as this makes the space of the room look bigger.
Investigate the architectural structure of you home and others like it in the suburb that you currently live in and try to compliment it by styling it correctly. This doesn’t mean you have to go and buy new furniture; it simply means trying to lay your furniture out in a way that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. An example of this would be to hide the back of your couches by rather making them line up against a wall instead of free standing in the middle of the living room.
Lights and Smells

Be careful to remember that not all people have a fondness for animals. In fact, a big dog, even if it is friendly, will make some prospective buyers nervous which can easily cause them to rush through the viewing in order to leave as quickly as possible. Try to take your pets for a walk during viewings and hide away your animal’s beds and chew toys so that nobody can see them.
Take the time to make sure that your garden is maintained. Move away plastic pools, toys, old equipment or rubble that you may have lying around your garden. You don’t need to be a professional gardener, but it is easy enough to make your garden look neat and maintained in time for show days.
